Georgia Institute of Technology recognizes the importance of breastfeeding for mothers, children, families, and the community at large. The Institute also acknowledges the need to support employees and students in order to sustain the breastfeeding relationship when they return to work or study. As such, Georgia Tech has taken measures to ensure faculty, staff, and students access to designated space conducive for nursing, breastfeeding, or expressing milk.
The selected breastfeeding rooms are located in five different areas on campus. Each room is private for breastfeeding. All rooms are key-code accessible, with the exception of Klaus’ Lactation Room, which requires buzz card access.
Nursing room locations include:
- Tech Tower, First Floor Women’s Lounge
- Ernest Scheller Jr. College of Business, Room 4282
- Klaus Building, Room 1227
- Stephen C. Hall Building (Basement Level)
- Engineering Biosystems Building (Krone EBB)
- Georgia Tech Instructional Center, Room 204
PLEASE NOTE: Mothers are required to sign a Nursing Room Agreement Form prior to using the room. The rooms are available on a first come, first served basis. Please complete the Nursing Room Agreement Here.
Each nursing room offers a clean, secure, and private space for mothers who need to nurse a baby or express breast milk during their time on campus. All of the rooms are equipped with a glider rocker or a chair with a foot stool, table, appropriate lighting, refrigerators, cleaning supplies, magazines, and information on breastfeeding. Additionally, there are Medela hospital grade breast pumps provided in each room; accessories will need to be provided by each individual user. Each nursing room is operated by the building manager of the specific building, and sponsored by Institute Diversity. We do our best to keep all items and information up-to-date.
Upon completing the form, you will receive access codes to the rooms. Use of the nursing rooms are available during operation hours of the building.
If you have any questions regarding the Nursing Rooms, please contact Georgia Tech Human Resources, Program Manager, HR - Employee Wellbeing and Engagement, Candice Bovian at 404.894.0490.
