OMED is charged with retaining and developing traditionally underrepresented students: African-American, Hispanic/Latino, Native American, and Multiracial students. However, our programs and initiatives are open to all Georgia Tech students.

About OMED

Programs for Student Success

OMED offers online and in-person student support and academic programs, resources and services. We are located in the Chapin Building (1st floor and 2nd floor student spaces) Mon-Thurs, 9am-8pm, and Friday 9am-5pm.

Academic Support (Tutoring)

Providing academic resources, mentoring, and training to Black/African American men at GT.

Advancing equity in employment and experiential learning opportunities for all Georgia Tech students.

Challenge (Incoming Students)

A 5‐week summer residential academic program for incoming first‐year students

Edge (First-Year Peer Mentoring)

Peer mentoring program designed to support incoming students – both freshmen and transfers – during their first year at Georgia Tech.

Focus

Four-day immersive program designed to attract and recruit the nation’s best and brightest diverse students to pursue graduate studies and careers in academia.

Peer-I-Scope

Empowering Achieve Atlanta scholars, APS students, and transfer students to thrive at GT.

Transitions (Incoming Grads)

Networking for grad and dual-degree/transfer students during the first week of orientation.

Women of Color Initiative (WOCI)

Enhancing the advancement of women in industry, research, and higher education.

Tower Awards

For 29 years, the Tower Awards have celebrated the academic achievements of traditionally underrepresented students at Georgia Tech. This year’s ceremony celebrating the academic achievements of students who have achieved a 3.15 GPA or higher will be held on April 6, 2023 at the Georgia Tech Hotel and Conference Center.

Academic Empowerment Fair

OMED's Academic Empowerment Fair will be held on February 23, 2023, from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. in the Georgia Tech Exhibition Hall. Meet with corporate partners, attend a mock interview, or meet with representatives from departments and resources on campus.
